At this era of globalization, the role of
information for development has become very crucial. In Ethiopia
, the Central Statistical Agency (CSA) is mandated to collect,
analyze and disseminate the country’s socio-economic and
demographic data. That data is playing a great role in providing
necessary information for development planning of the country.
This activity of the CSA can be more efficiently implemented
if the Agency is able to make use of the fast growing Information
Communication Technology (ICT).
For
this, The CSA’s top priority in the next four to five years
is to aggressively work on improving its data management and dissemination
system through an effective use of ICT. It is with this aim that
the CSA has established a new section called Information Communication
Technology Development service (ICTD service) in July 2004 which
will be leading the desired ICT development in the Agency. |
