The CSA’s top priority in the next
four to five years is to aggressively deal on improving its
data collection, management and dissemination system by making
an effective use of Information Communication Technology (ICT).
Accordingly, the CSA has formulated a new service called Information
Communication Technology Development Service (ICT Service)
with a vision that pursues the following action plans.
The
first action plan deals with improvement of the CSA’s
existing internal capabilities of the implementation of ICT
for efficient accomplishment of its objectives. This includes
the development of central data bank and the establishment of
socio-economic database. The second action plan is to use the
Woreda Net Project in enhancing the Medium Term National Statistical
Program.
The
accomplishment of this project will enable the CSA to be capable
of disseminating the socio-economic data collected to users
very easily and efficiently. This involves disseminating through
an electronic media and via an Internet. The accessibility of
data/Information will not be limited to national level but will
extend to regional and International level. Moreover, the establishment
of the Wide Area Network connecting the branch offices will
facilitate the data analysis processes, which is done only at
the central office here in the capital. Therefore, the scope
covers all the branch offices and all the weredas through the
Wereda Net and the International level through the Internet.
