Providing More Statistical Information
At this era of information, the role of statistical information for the country’s development planning is very crucial. In all developing countries, including Ethiopia , the collecting, processing and analyzing of various data for the development and monitoring of the country’s Poverty Reduction Strategy, has become the responsibility of the statistical offices. In addition most of the required indictors for the Millennium Development Goals have to be obtained from data collected compiled and analyzed from the statistical offices. Therefore, the main concern for the Central Statistical Agency will be providing reliable and timely information that is going to be useful for the country’s development agenda.

By considering the direction of the world and country’s development and by studying the need of information users, it is very important to develop short and medium term statistical program that will help to fill the statistical data gap. For this reason, the Central Statistical Agency in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development has prepared a comprehensive medium term statistical program that is being in use in identifying and filling data gaps and defining priorities.
