The department is organized to generate
and disseminate statistical data in the social sector. Specifically
the department is mandated to
- Collect, compile, and analyze social data from surveys and
administrate records to prepare statistical and analytical reports
- To provide technical assistance to data producers and users
in social statistics area.
Also the department aims to collaborate and work with relevant
national and international bodies for the development of social
statistics.
Until now the department had conducted labor force and related
surveys. It has also done health and nutrition surveys and compiled
statistical data in sport, education, culture , and law and order
sectors from secondary sources.
